POINTS OF INTEREST ALONG THE ROUTE
The Church of St. Bolfenk was built in the 16th century in the Baroque style. It is located at an altitude of 942 m. According to legend, St. Bolfenk determined the location for the church in a very special way by throwing an axe in a random direction. A mighty linden tree stands by the church, planted to commemorate the signing of the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, at the end of the Thirty Years' War.
The Lodge Koča Pesnik existed even before World War II. After 1945, it was given a significant role as the nearby Lodge Ribniška Koča was burned down during the war and thus was not operational. It was renamed the Shelter at Pesnik. After being closed for several years, the authorities restored it and it was reopened in 1992. Today, it operates year-round from 7 AM to 10 PM, where you can refresh yourself with food and drinks.
