PEAK JANŽEVSKI VRH OKP 5-2

Peak Janževski vrh is a dispersed settlement of solitary farms above the Drava Valley and its right tributary, Velka.  


DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE

In Ribnica na Pohorju, turn onto the road towards Vuhred. From there, follow the signposts for Peak Janževski vrh. After a slight ascent, taking you past the Držečnik homestead, you will descend past the Sgerm and Miklavc farms. After passing the Breznik farm, follow the road and continue ascending past the Junker, Stepinšek, and Bomer homesteads towards the Church of St. John. The return route leads you to turn left after the Junker homestead. Descending past the Pur homestead, you will arrive at the Slivnica Stream. Cycle on the left side of the roadway and join the OKP 3 route on the right at the signpost. You will then ascend past the Lencl and Završnik homesteads. From there, head back towards Ribnica na Pohorju. 

POINTS OF INTEREST ALONG THE ROUTE

Sgerm Spruce is 63 m tall and is considered the tallest spruce tree in Slovenia and Central Europe overall. Its significance to the locals is expressed in the coat of arms of Ribnica na Pohorju. je visoka 63 m in velja za najvišjo smreko v Sloveniji in v srednji Evropi nasploh. Njen pomen za domačine je izražen v grbu Ribnice na Pohorju.

Church of St. John and Energy Points: The Church of St. John was built in the 16th century. For centuries, locals have believed that the church and its immediate surroundings are a source of healing energy.

Stara hiša pri Kebru Old House at Keber is a very well-preserved old farmhouse. It is made of stone and partially of wood. The interior is arranged quite traditionally. The wooden ceiling and black kitchen with a vaulted arch are preserved. To the left of the house stands a cellar made of stone and dug into the hill.
